Chopping board re-surface / skimming
High density plastic chopping boards are designed to minimise knife marks caused by frequent use. However some scratching is unavoidable and will build up over time. Scratches in the surface of the board create a health hazard, as it can provide a harbourage point for bacteria that is difficult to clean. This poses a food safety risk and would be picked up in technical or food safety audits. Replacing the boards is one option, but means constantly buying new boards and throwing away material that aside from the surface is fit for purpose. Our re-surfacing service therefore is a more economical and environmentally friendly solution, repairing rather than replacing the boards. We re-surface the board by skimming off the top surface of the board, removing the scratched / discoloured area and providing a clean and smooth cutting surface.
Step by step process;
1- Get in touch and we will provide a quotation per board based on the size of your boards
2 – We up lift the boards from your site
3 – We machine the boards, removing the top couple of mm just enough to remove the scratches and provide a smooth surface
4 – Re-surfaced boards are packed up and shipped back to site
5 – Repeat – Depending on the thickness of the boards and depth of scratches, boards can be re-surfaced multiple times
