Daily Mishaps that Wear Out Bakery Trays

There are several mishaps that can wear out the trays in a bakery. Some of these mishaps are preventable, and some are not. It is important to know what can happen to the trays so you can take steps to avoid them.

Knocks and falls

Knocks and falls are among the most common causes of damage to plastic bakery trays, but these mishaps can also be avoided.

You should always keep your bakery trays in a secure location away from the floor or ground. Avoid stacking them too high, even if you have a sturdy shelf for your trays. If you’re storing them on the ground, place something heavy on top, so they don’t move around too much.

Temperature Changes

Another way you can damage your plastic bakery trays is by exposing them to extreme temperatures. Plastics have different properties depending on the temperature at which they’re used; some plastics become more flexible at lower temperatures, while others become more brittle at higher temperatures. This means that if you misuse plastic bakery trays, they could break or crack easily.

Bakery trays and baking trays are different

When you need to bake your bread, cake, pastry, and other similar items, you need to use metal-made baking trays. They are also known as sheet pans or cookie sheets.

But, after preparing these baked items, you need to use bakery trays. You should use them while sorting, storing, or transporting your goods. As they are plastic trays, they have a lightweight design. You can quickly move them around your warehouse or any other place.

Why is plastic highly sustainable?

There has been a trend of reducing the use of plastic in recent years to maintain sustainability. Many businesses have focused on sustainability. They try to choose sustainable packaging for their products. Some consumers think that only paper packaging is a sustainable choice. But, most concerns are related to single-use plastics found in disposable wrappers and soda bottles.

On the contrary, our manufacturers use reusable plastic trays to ensure a sustainable future. When you need to transport or sort bakery items, you can make the best use of our sturdy plastic trays. These commercial bakery trays last for several years. However, cardboard trays get damaged after a couple of uses.

You can invest in our premium-quality plastic bakery trays that do not produce significant waste. Thus, they are an eco-friendly solution for your bakery foodstuff. These lightweight plastic trays use minimal energy when you ship them from one place to another.

Reusable plastics are also recyclable at the end of their lifespans. HDPE, or High-density polyethene, is the commonly chosen material for our bakery trays.

Why is it safe to use plastic bakery trays for sale?

Some bakery goods manufacturers and consumers think that plastic packaging and containers can contaminate food with harmful chemicals. However, the biggest truth is that there are various types of plastics. Fortunately, most plastic types are safe for your food. So, there is no risk when they come in contact with edible items.

Food-grade and food-safe plastics

Researchers have found that food-grade plastics are safe when they come into contact directly with your food. Like your cutting boards and dishes, our bakery trays are manufactured with food-grade plastics. But, to make these food-grade trays safe for your baked goods, you must use them properly.

Other reasons for using commercial bakery trays

Our plastic food trays are the right choice for those who are concerned about sanitation. You can easily use these trays regularly to prevent cross-contamination or food-borne illnesses. Clean our trays manually and use them for a number of years. When these trays are empty, you can stack them over each other.

Another reason for using commercial plastic trays for baked goods is that they are not very heavy, unlike glassware. Besides, there is no risk of breakage when dropped on the floor accidentally. So, it is safe to use our plastic bakery trays during the transportation of your food.

Our bakery trays are one of the essentials of your bakery shop and manufacturing facility. Available in different sizes and colours, these trays will provide you with significant value. These compact trays are also found in various designs to meet your needs.

FAQs

What materials are your bakery trays made from?

Bakery trays are designed to handle food, meaning the materials used to make the trays should be food-grade. Our bakery trays are made from food-grade polypropylene (PP) or HDPE plastic. Bakery trays made from PP are lightweight, durable and hygienic, while those made from HDPE are strong and resistant to impact.

Are the bakery trays solid or ventilated?

We carry bakery trays in both options. We have ventilated trays which allow for air circulation for cooling baked goods and solid trays that prevent crumbs and small items from falling through.

Are the bakery trays certified food safe?

Yes, all our bakery trays comply with EU food safety regulations and standards, making them safe for direct contact with baked goods.

Can the bakery trays be used for warm and cold displays?

Besides handling and storing baked products, some types of bakery trays can also be used for display. The trays are designed to handle a wide temperature range, including cold storage, ambient use and some warm environments. However, they should not be used for direct oven baking.

Can the bakery trays be used in environments with automated systems?

Yes, the trays are designed to be used with conveyors and automated handling systems in large-scale bakeries.

Are bakery trays safe for food contact?

Yes. Most bakery trays are manufactured from food-grade plastics, making them suitable for direct contact with dough, baked goods and ingredients. Their smooth surfaces are easy to clean and help maintain the high hygiene standards required in food production environments.

What is the difference between ventilated and solid bakery trays?

Ventilated bakery trays feature openings in the base or sides, allowing improved airflow around baked goods. This helps with cooling, moisture control and quicker drying. Solid bakery trays, on the other hand, have fully closed sides and bases, ideal for preventing crumbs or ingredients from falling through and for applications where better product protection is needed. The right choice depends on whether you require ventilation or containment.

Are bakery trays stackable and nestable?

Many bakery trays are designed to stack securely when in use, helping save space and keep products organised. Some models are also nestable when empty, reducing storage footprint and making them ideal for busy bakeries or distribution routes. The stacking tabs or rims ensure stability and prevent product damage.

Can bakery trays be used in freezers or chillers?

Most bakery trays made from high-quality, food-grade plastic are suitable for use in chilled or freezer environments. They maintain their strength at low temperatures and help protect baked goods or ingredients during cold storage. Always check temperature ratings for individual trays to ensure compatibility with your setup.

Can bakery trays be used with automated bakery production lines?

Many bakery trays are designed to integrate smoothly with automated systems, conveyors and handling equipment. Their uniform sizing and durable construction make them suitable for high-throughput, mechanised bakery operations.
